Nacida en Suffolk, Portia probó suerte en varios lugares antes de quedarse en Cartagena: vivió en Escocia, Japón, Francia y Mónaco. Aquí, quizás por la conexión natural con la herencia afrocaribeña de su madre, ha hecho su hogar.
Consciente de la diferencia que hace una oportunidad, ha dedicado la última década a crear negocios que sean a la vez una escalera para salir adelante y un techo que resguarde de la discriminación.
Blue Apple Beach se convirtió en el primer resort isleño del mundo en certificarse como B Corp, y en el primer hotel isleño de Cartagena incluido en la Guía Michelin de hoteles. Su fundación, Fundación Green Apple, es la única planta de reciclaje de vidrio de Cartagena, y la iniciativa colaborativa Nuestra Cartagena es, según nos han dicho, la primera de su tipo en el mundo.
Además de operar las marcas de Hart Hospitality, Portia es una conferencista habitual, y apasionada, sobre cómo llevar la sostenibilidad a la práctica de forma rentable. Es miembro del cuerpo docente de MAD Academy en Copenhague desde 2023 y dirige su propio escenario en Open House de PURE en Marrakech. Condé Nast Traveller la nombró una de las personas que están cambiando el futuro de los viajes.
