A guest reading at a table on the terrace of La Colombe d'Or, Saint Paul de Vence
"When I first visited La Colombe d'Or in the famed artists' haven of Saint Paul de Vence in France, what impressed me wasn't the value of the art adorning the walls, rather the simple beauty of an exchange between restaurateur and artist, both giving what they had in return for something they loved."
Portia Hart · Founder, Hart Hospitality

From the days when we were setting up Blue Apple and couldn't afford to buy art, or anything other than the essential, our properties have been a creative, contributive space for artists, musicians, yogis, photographers, marine biologists, environmental engineers, anthropologists and anyone else who has something to share with us, our guests and our community, in exchange for board and lodging.

The offer is not limited to artists. We accept residents who can help us in our mission to achieve environmental regeneration and social equality in Cartagena and on the islands.

Tell us where your idea belongs. A mural in the walled city, yoga on the beach or a mangrove project on Barú: we will place you where your offer does the most good.

The conditions.

  1. 01

Accommodation is at the property that suits your residency and includes all meals and soft drinks. Alcohol is additional, but residents receive a 30% discount and can bring their own supplies from the city, no problem. Plus ones are welcome for a stipend of US $40 per day.

  2. 02

Your offer will ideally be of benefit to the property and also include an element that contributes to either environmental repair or the local community. For example, yoga classes for guests and staff or neighbours; painting for the hotel and a mural in town; building a regenerative farm and teaching local kids about farming. Be creative and think about how you can improve our world.

  3. 03

Spanish is helpful but not essential. If your idea is great, we can help with the language.

  4. 04

Residencies run from a minimum of one week to a maximum of three months.

  5. 05

Please have a clear idea of your offer. If you send us your skillset without a full proposal, we probably won't come back to you.

Send us your proposal.

Include your medium, area of expertise or artistic practice, what you will offer our community, links to your website and social media, and your ideal dates and number of weeks.
