Safety First. And a Strange Detail About Wood
We arrived onsite this morning to discover some excellent progress. This is the beginning of the deck that will be our al fresco dining room and bar. I’m really pleased we don’t have to display one of those signs saying ‘XX days since our last accident’. Apparently harnesses and safety hats are for wimps.
The deck has been delayed by a week or so, because of a particular nuance relating to the transport of wood. The planks we are using for the floors and ceilings arrived on time, but the pillars were nowhere to be seen. Turns out, wood that has been cut (madera preparada) requires no paperwork to move it from A to B (A being a few kilometres from B). Wood that is still in the shape of a tree however (madera non preparada) can only travel with a special license. It’s the same wood, from the same trees. We just chose to keep it in its natural shape for aesthetics, nothing more. Yeah, you still need a license though.
